YCLC Holds Workshop

York County Literacy Council (YCLC) provided a census workshop, led by Francis Stephens, partnership specialist of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce - Bureau of Census.

The workshop aimed to help participants understand the purpose of the census and what to expect. Stephens explained how the results of the census will help to determine the amount of government funds an area will receive to support programs like roads, hospitals, children's services and other support services. Responses to the census can be by phone, internet or mail. There will be a number on the mailing for verification purposes.

Classes provided by York County Literacy Council include Basic Adult Learning, High School Equivalency, English as a Second Language, Citizenship, and PRE CNA. YCLC's Next Step Program helps students to explore a career pathway, employment and higher education.

Readers may call YCLC at 717-845-8719 or visit http://www.yorkliteracy.org for additional information. Offices are located in York and Hanover.
