YMCA Continues Services, Seeks Donations

The YMCA of York and York County is continuing its community work during the COVID-19 crisis. Despite its closure and losing significant revenue, the YMCA recognizes the urgent needs in the community and is currently operating the following programs to meet them.

The YMCA provides accessible child care for essential employees and health care workers. Southern Community Services distributes food and goods to people in need in southern York County while offering case management services. The YMCA serves lunch and dinner to children and families so that no one misses a meal when school is out of session. The YMCA men's residence serves as a home for men experiencing homelessness and helps them become self-sufficient. The New American Welcome Center connects newcomers to the area with essential resources and helps the Spanish-speaking population.

These programs feed 300 families each month, keep 250 people in stable housing, make homes for 110 otherwise homeless men, serve meals to 200 children daily, and welcome 75 newcomers per week.

In order to raise these funds, the YMCA is asking for donations to the Y COVID-19 Relief Fund. Donations will go directly toward this work.
