The YMCA of York and York County is set to collaborate with the Swim York City Foundation for a swimming event on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. at Graham Aquatic Center, 543 N. Newberry St., York. The public is invited.
Children in attendance may choose to to get in the pool, or they may sit in the bleachers and spectate. USA Swimming National Team member Justin Ress will educate students about water safety and swimming, as well as race a few York City students.
The event is free for all participants, family members, and friends. Attendees are asked to bring appropriate pool attire (bathing suits or swim trunks). Swim team volunteers will be on hand to assist those who are new to the water, and family members are welcome to join their children in the pool.
The purpose of the program is to promote both the sport of swimming and swimming safety with the youths in the York community.
