YorVoice Champions Recognized

York County's 2020 YorVoice champions have been announced. See the Elephant and the Brass Peanuts from Menchey Music was awarded Live Band Champion with its performance of "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis, and Alyssa Colon, sponsored by York Traditions Bank, took home Vocal Champion with her original composition, "Glittering Light."

This year's YorVoice competition was held virtually on YouTube and Facebook Live after being postponed from March until August. Viewers tuned in from a wide area to watch eight musical acts from York County compete for the title of YorVoice Champion, while raising money for the Cultural Alliance of York County's 2020 Resiliency Fund. In total, the event raised over $14,000 for York County's arts and culture community.

In a close competition, judges named Jenny Parker, who performed "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones, as runner-up, making this her second year earning that title. Teagan Tatcher took home the 2020 People's Choice Award for receiving the most votes for her performance of "Breathe" by Anna Nalick.

The YorVoice mission is to celebrate the arts and their impact on the community, as well as to highlight local talent. Every dollar raised for the Cultural Alliance Resiliency Fund this year will go toward ensuring that the future of York County is alive with arts and culture as residents continue to face the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
