The West Shore Symphony Orchestra will present a concert of "Symphonic Stories" on Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m. at the Carlisle Theatre, 40 W. High St., Carlisle. It will feature Ravel's "Mother Goose Suite," Doppler's "Fantasie Pastorale Hongrois" with the symphony's 2019 high school concerto competition winner Ananya Tadigadapa on flute, Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy," and Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" with narrator Aji Abraham.
Ticket prices have been set for adults and for seniors, with tickets available at the door or at http://www.westshoresymphony.org. Children under age 12 will be admitted free.
Musical director and conductor Jennifer Sacher Wiley will present a pre-concert talk at 2:15 p.m., providing musical and historical background on the composers and compositions featured in the concert. In addition, the orchestra will play an admission-free family concert at the theater on Saturday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m., featuring excerpts from Sunday's repertoire in a child-friendly, educational format.
